The Ruby Proscribe utilizes a precision ground 30 degree angle blade for scribing fiberoptic glass very close to the connector end face. The blade is sharpened on both ends; thereby doubling the blade's useful life. The dark red ruby material makes it easier for the user to see any nicks in the blade and it highlights the fiber against the blade when scribing. |

The Sapphire blade has a 60 degree wedge shape allowing the user to scribe from both sides. Similar scribes use a dual bevel on one side to achieve the cutting edge. This type of edge requires the operator to turn the scribe to the proper side to use it properly. Unlike similar scribes, the Sapphire Proscribe is sharpened on both ends. Thus allowing the user to turn the blade around in the handle for a new cutting surface when the blade dulls for twice the blade's life. |
